STRANGE BATTLE
SCENE ONE:
(While Pastor Daniel was about entering into the auditorium of the church, a young man approaches him…)
YOUNG MAN: good afternoon pastor.
Pastor Daniel: yes, good afternoon young man; and how may I help you?
Young man: sire, I pray thee that I might have some words with you, at the moment sire?
Pastor Daniel: well who am I to say no to God’s work? Let go into his existence…
(They took a seat at the centre of the church auditorium.)
Pastor Daniel: so young man, you said you wanted to see me or so?
Young man: yes pastor…
(The pastor adjusts his seat, so as to pay attention carefully to the young man.)
Young man: I am a troubled man sire. I was born an orphan; I was brought up on the street of Ibadan sire. And sire, you seem not to remember this young misery face, sire?
Pastor Daniel: no, I honestly cannot. Maybe you should try to set me in on who you are; and what lamentations you have got.
Young man: I am the young boy, whom your wife brought to you, years ago: sometimes twenty- four years ago…
(The pastor stands up out of astonishment and speaks)
Pastor Daniel: oh you? I mean, where on earth have you been all these years? We have searched for you all over the town; even into the heart of Ibadan, for we thought there you might be; for there you were found? Common say something my Christian son? Don’t feel ashamed of yourself or your character; you are like Onesimus to me and also you I love, like the prodigal son. So, tell me your experience, son in Christ?
(The young man starts sobbing and then starts his story)

………………LIGHT OUT.........................
SCENE TWO:
Young man: sir, I ran out of your home, sometimes sixteen years ago. I thought of thee and thy family as too spiritual a home. I noticed that thy family thought not of material things and its necessities. I observed that thou only lived, on the portion which was given to thee from above from God. But I was not in any way acquainted to these SPIRICOCO ways of life. So I opted to go back to the street; for from the street I came, and unto the street, I go back. Thou at the same time, I tried going back to school; which I actually did. Fortunately I got admission into Ife, to study ECONOMICS. But there was one of these Orientation Christian nights that I gave my life to Christ Jesus all over again. But ever since three years now, have been having a very HIV POSITIVE LOOKING G.P; my emotional life has been very very unbalanced and heart smashing. So also does my Christian life which has actually in so many vivid ways become crumbled. The last time I went to church was out of frustration and dullness. I have even become a slave, a slave of alcohol. I am now into male prostitution, which is the only source of living. I have lost my skills; I have lost myself and I have lost my mind…
(The pastor intercepts him by saying…)
Pastor Daniel: but why didn’t you come back to us earlier than this?
Young man: I left you in Lagos and I actually went back to your address but learnt that you have left the church for the work of God as a Missionary to a small town in Osun state, which I was not told where exactly.
(The young man continues his story.)
Young man: and sire, just last week, I almost committed suicide. Reason being that, the only last source of survival, I mean one and only sugar mummy remaining of me, decided to desert me for another person because of no reason. It was while I was at the junction of life and death, near your mission house, unknown to me. It was your guard who rescued me from suicide. I knew if I had died I would go to hell at that spot; but sire, my faith of the actual existence of hell itself was shaken and broken by suffering and acute curse. Pastor, I want you to pray for me. I don’t know if I am actually cursed or suffering from one of my unknown actions or those of my ancestors.
(While the young man was talking, the Lord had shown a vision to the Pastor, and it was asked of the pastor to tell the young man his faults and those of his fourth grandparents.)(The Pastor calls in one or two other brothers.)
*************************
SCENE THREE:
Pastor Daniel: Brother Jero and Brother Jude, can you please join us for prayers as we do so?
(Soon they started singing, while some prayed. They were about doing deliverance for the young man. But while in the mood of prayer, there was a vision shown to all of the four from God…)
(Here, we found some people of ancient times talking, crying and cursing…)
A woman: ha my God! And you allowed this to happen to me. Look everybody, that stupid King has done his un-godly sacrifice to the gods again. But must it be my newly born twins that must be used? Hey if it is true that men are God’s creatures, may the sons of King Adereti always live a miserable life. May they see their own back themselves. May they dance to the tune of slavery, sickness, barreness, poverty and death. May their lives be as cloudy as those of the nights…
(The woman continues cursing…)
SCENE FOUR:
(Suddenly there appears an old man in the forest, chanting incantations…)
An Old man: afelele loruko ta pe Ifa
Okunrin fongbadi, loruko ta pe Esu Odara,
Lakiriboto loruko ta pe awon iya mi Osoromoniga,
Abiyamo ko gbodo gbo ekun awon omo e, ki o ma tati were,
Winrin winrin bai nijo ayan ati were,
Winrin winrin bai lalagemo yipada sodi,
Ni kia mo sa ni isu di yan
Ni wara n sesa, ni agbado do ogi…
Oh ye mothers of earth, I call upon thee this day. You all must answer my call. For it is forbidden for you to neglect the sound of me. I am WAKAWOKO, the only one eye ritualist who sleeps and walks naked in the thin breath of men. My only gift, my only wife has been snatched by the King of this town. My only daughter has been offered as a slave to this same king. My son, your son, whom you, the witches have thought will replace me when am gone to become one of you, has been killed by the prince in the market square because they are in love with the same lady. My only small farm that is merely a ground of six palm trees has been forcefully collected by the Prince. Oh yea witches of earth, oh yea demons and spirits of the firmament, oh yea ancient spirits of the devil, I conjure you all tonight, to fight for me. Let the unborn generations to come suffer from these unknown and ancient actions of their fore fathers. Let any of these unborn sons who bear the same name with this miserable ruling king, be the one to suffer most. Let their males become prostitutes; let their females become as barren as the thin air in the Harmattan; let their wombs be sealed; and should they born, let them born gnoms and ghommids; that is, let them give birth to midgets and demons…
SCENE FIVE:
(In another vision of the young man’s family acts…)
(We see the young man’s father when he was a young boy in a dirty act with his father’s female worker…)
Young man’s father: look girl, come show me some pepper. Allow me in now.
House girl: no sir. I can’t any longer. You only do this to me when you fell like. I can’t. Moreover there is a problem. I am pregnant sir.
(At first the young man’s father expresses shock. Then he smiled and told the girl not to worry.) (Three days later)
Young man’s father: come sweet girl, I bought this assaulted toast bread for you today, on my way back from super market. Do you mind?
House girl: thank you sir. I really appreciate this. Now I know you like me.
Young man’s father: thank God you know I like you and not that I love you. (The girl starts smiling; but after twenty minutes, she starts expressing dis-comfort and she starts to groan…)
House girl: help me somebody please, help! My stomach, my belly; oh God please. Ha, Oga this is not fair. May God reward you with evil which you have done. May you never see your children grow old. May your children never do anything good, even as good as becoming a House gardener.
(She dies in agony and pain of un-wanted abortion.)
**********************************************************************
SCENE SIX:
(In another vision from God concerning the unknown battles that affects the life of the young man: as at the time he was still staying with the pastor when he was young. And this last battle was the one responsible for all the hard comings in the life of the young man…)
Pastor Daniel: oh my young boy, I learnt you are feeling feverish all the while?
Young man: yes sire. But I am really feeling the pain of the injection I was given at the hospital.
Pastor Daniel: and that reminds me; hey honey? Hello, please?
(The pastor’s wife answered the pastor’s call from the kitchen arena…)
Pastor’s wife: yes sire, I am coming sire.
Pastor Daniel: please honey, how much have we left to pay the medical bills of this my young boy here?
Pastor’s wife: we have only a sum of two thousand five hundred left sires.
Pastor Daniel: I guess he still has one more injection to go tonight?
(Both the young man and the pastor’s wife nodded in concurrence to the pastor’s question positively.)
Pastor Daniel: so by tonight young boy, I will give you the balance to hand over to the nurse on duty as the completion of your bills at the hospital. Okay?
Young man: okay sire. May God bless you sire. And I have one more thing to say sire…
(The pastor waits in anticipation of what the young man wants to say exactly…)
Young man: well sire, I want to promise you that, I will never bring shame and disgrace to your name. And that the day I make a fool of you and your God in anyway, from that day henceforth, may all the curses and implications of my family are upon me… and May…
Pastor Daniel: no young boy, there is no need for that. I trust the Lord upon your life.
**************************************
(The young man arrives at the hospital…)
Young man: good evening ma.
Matron: hey hello my young boy. How do you do now?
Young man: I am pretty much better than before.
Matron: may all glory be accorded to God. I guess you are here for your last dose of injection?
Young man: yes madam. But ma here is my balance for my treatment; where exactly am I to pay?
Matron: the cashier is just seated over there at the corner; you can pay to her after your last dose, so that you won’t run away.
(After the injection, the young man does as if he had paid to the cashier, but never did, he had the money kept for the sake of buying gifts and merries for himself and his fellow rogues at school… the next day at the hospital…)
Pastor Daniel: good morning Matron.
Matron: hey pastor, good morning sire. I hope your young man is now feeling real good?
Pastor Daniel: yep. He is really looking chubby, kinky and smart. All thanks to God.
Pastor’s wife: yes all thanks to God.
(By this time, the cashier comes in and intercepts the discussion by her salutations…)
Cashier: hello sire and ma?
Pastor Daniel and his wife: hello ma too?
Pastor’s wife: I sincerely hope the work is going on smooth and rosy?
Cashier: eeerrr, at least, we thank God, for his mercies upon us.
Pastor Daniel: that is a sufficient testimony of God’s work over the life of a gentle and humble Christian.
(They all chorused the laughter… suddenly…)
Cashier: sorry sire, if I may remind you…
Pastor Daniel: yeah?
Cashier: I want to remind you that you still have a balance of two thousand naira and five hundred left to pay to us sire.
(The pastor looks into the young man’s eyes for answers…)
Pastor Daniel: hello gentle man? What about the money I asked you to pay to the hospital cashier yester night when you came for your last round of injection, before this morning?
(At first, the young man was afraid, but later summoned bravery…)
Young man: sire, I paid to her yesterday… I did pay the money before…
Cashier: hello young man, am I as old in foolishness and thoughtless in conscious words of God that I should lie over an amount which is not even enough to pay my son’s school fees?
Matron: hello somebody; but I was there yester night when this humble looking boy here asked for who and where the cashier was? Which I actually showed him without delay: interestingly, I saw him headed in the direction to your office to pay.
(It was almost turning into an argument when the Medical Doctor, who owns the hospital came out of his office to see what was going on in his hospital.) (After the whole story was narrated to the doctor, he made the following statements…)
Doctor: I am very sure that this small boy here cannot be lying and this gentle couple here is workers of God that they should lie. Moreover, madam cashier, your office last year lost the sum of one thousand five hundred naira which you were unable to account for…
Cashier: ha Oga, believe me…
Doctor: my simple and short verdict is that you are fired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SCENE SEVEN:
(Back to the altar of deliverance of the young man, the words of God came through Pastor Daniel as thus…)
Pastor Daniel: well young man, carry your cross and be courageous enough to confess all your sins. That woman, whom you lied against, lost that job which was the only means of survival. She later backslides to becoming a prostitute so as to make ends meet: her son deserted her; though, the Lord has gained his body, spirit and soul; so these are the reasons why you suffer. Go and ask for forgiveness: go and make straight with those whom you have slain on the platter of lies; go and make peace with God; so that all your plights will wash away.)

…THE END…
SYNOPSIS…
This short play is dedicated to the glory of God, who inspired me to have written this short piece. For I write other scripts which are of men; I have had in mind to write that which will be accorded to God; but means of distractions have shadowed my mind from such an action; but it is of utmost joy and grace over my life and talent that I have this day produced such that can be wheeled with the gospel of Jesus Christ as written in the book of Mark chapter 15; and that is why I give all glory to God. Once more, I dedicate the book to God and to all Martyrs of Christianity.
Yours in Evangelism of Christ Jesus,
